Sat Blast Dustless Blasting System 

Our SAT Blast operates with wet abrasive media. Abrasive media and water are combined in a pressurised blasting pot. Each blast particle is encapsulated with water, which extra weight to the media. This enlarges the impact of the blast media on the substrate. The removal of the material is smoother and less media is used.

The water reduces splash back and also traps the dust being produced.

What is the SAT Blast Dustless Blaster?

The Dustless Blaster works by mixing water and abrasive inside the blast tank. This is sometimes called vapour blasting. By introducing water you are drastically increasing mass and energy that machine is putting out, while eliminating dust. Picture throwing a handful of dry sand, versus throwing a handful of wet sand; which one is going to have a more significant impact on the target? Not only will the wet sand hit the target harder, but it won’t disintegrate and become a cloud of dust like the dry sand will. This is the very simple principle behind Dustless Blasting.

The Dustless Blasting system has advantages over standard dry blasting :

  • Faster  -  The Dustless Blaster can strip a car in under 2 hours.
  • Minimal Dust  -  The abrasive gets trapped in water, eliminating dust plume
  • Lower Abrasive Consumption  -  uses less media to do more work.
  • Abrasive Flexibility  -  can use almost any abrasive that sinks in water.
  • No Warping  -  The water prevents friction and won’t warp thin metal like sandblasting will.
  • Less Containment Needed  -  In most cases, expensive, time consuming containment doesn't need to be set up.
  • Doesn’t Affect Nearby Workers  -  don’t sacrifice productivity, as other workers can work nearby unaffected.

Will it rust metal?

We recommend a rust inhibitor to prevent flash rust for up to 72 hours. This extremely effective rust inhibitor is added to the blast water to prevent flash rust during blasting, and then used to rinse after blasting is complete.

What kind of abrasive does it use?

This system is designed for use with FINE media in a saturated form such as :- 

  • Garnet
  • Abrablast Fine Abrasive which consists of a controlled mixture of inert recycled products, the majority being angular Glass Grit and Calcium Silicate.   

What size of compressor do I need to run a Dustless Blaster?

We recommend a minimum 265 CFM Cubic Feed Per Minute compressor. Lower cfm can be used if the sat blast is used at a lower pressure, and with a smaller nozzle.  

 

Is there an alternative to a wet dustless blasting system ?

Blast & Vac Dustless Blasting System 

We also sell and hire a dry dustless blasting called the Blast & Vac. Instead of using water blast, the Blast & Vac uses dry media, in conjunction with an air driven vacuum system and a special blast head.

Many projects require that open blasting dusts be controlled or even abandoned because of dusts. Our Blast & Vac Vacuum Blasting is an ideal alternative for some projects.

Vacuum Blasting encapsulates and immediately retrieves dust, residue, coating and blast media at the Blast & Vac work head.

What does the Vacuum Blast System Comprise ?

The blast & vac vacuum blaster is a combined Blasting and Vacuuming machine for use with a Blast &Vac work head.

The BRS incorporates a Blast machine, eductor vacuum pump, Cyclonic Separator and Dust Collector into one compact package which can be easily transported from site to site or within buildings. This portable system can be used with a wide range of abrasive media to remove coatings and hazardous materials.

Blast & Vac Workheads

Our standard head is 3” in dimeter and features a twin brush seal. These workheads carry an internal blast nozzle and vacuum suction port. The integrity of operation relies on the operator maintaining the nylon brush seals in contact with the work surface at all times. These Blast & Vac™ workheads are a light weight, yet rugged design for production blasting. Other heads are available for larger areas, or difficult to reach areas.

What size of compressor do I need to run a Blast & Vac ?

We recommend a 375 CFM (Cubic Feed Per Minute) compressor. Air is required to both pressurise the pot, expel the blast media at the correct pressure, and operate the air driven vacuum.
