Top 6 Uses Of A Sandblasting Machine

Could your industry benefit from a sandblasting machine?

Sandblasting is the process of hurling abrasive media towards a surface at high speed to achieve a certain finish. There are two types used:

  • Reusable abrasive – the most economical option of the two and includes steel grit, aluminium oxide, glass bead and steel shot.
  • Expendable abrasive – typically used for open blasting where the blast media isn’t recovered or reused. Examples being iron silicate, garnet, olivine, stonegrit, and JBlast SC (a type of calcium silicate synthetic).

For many industry professionals, the sandblasting machine is an essential piece of equipment in the blast room – particularly for cleaning, deburring, and removing layers of paint and other coatings. There are various machines available and they all work differently. But for the most part, they propel media through a nozzle, via compressed air from an air

How Does An Air-Fed Mask Work?

Regular exposure to airborne toxic materials is a very real hazard in the finishing industry, whether you work in the paint shop, powder coating, or industrial spraying environment.

Harmful particulate can be easily inhaled into the lungs and have serious (sometimes fatal) consequences. Therefore, it’s crucial that you have the appropriate respiratory protection, including an air-fed mask.

What is an air-fed mask?

Simply put, an air-fed mask is a welding helmet with a built-in respirator.

It uses a battery-powered fan to provide clean air to the user and prevents contaminated particles from being passed through the filter. As a result, it provides maximum protection against dust, dirt, and other potentially harmful fragments.

Though air-fed masks are mostly used in the workplace, they’re also suitable for use at home – particularly by users who carry out welding tasks, or use materials that generate a lot

GX4 Carbon Monoxide Monitor & Alarm

RPB GX4 Gas Monitor

The RPB GX4 gas monitor gives you complete confidence that the supplied / compressed air you and your employees breathe is safe. By detecting when there are dangerous levels of toxic gasses, this monitor ensures you will be protected and alerted to the danger.

Dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide are invisible to all the human senses, yet are commonly found in industrial premises worldwide. Early symptoms of CO exposure can easily be mistake for flu, headaches or tiredness. Although low level exposure may not be immediately fatal, ongoing contact at low levels has a cumulative effect, causing serious illness and long term health issues.

Contamination of your breathing air can come from many areas such as vehicle exhaust fumes, welding fumes or portable compressor fumes which are drawn into the air compressor inlet.

The GX4 gas monitor detects up to four gases simultaneously and with the smart device and cloud integration capabilities

The Types of Dustless Blasting Equipment

Sat Blast Dustless Blasting System

Our SAT Blast operates with wet abrasive media. Abrasive media and water are combined in a pressurised blasting pot. Each blast particle is encapsulated with water, which extra weight to the media. This enlarges the impact of the blast media on the substrate. The removal of the material is smoother and less media is used.

The water reduces splash back and also traps the dust being produced.

  • Dustless blasting can provide approximately 90% less dust
  • Blast media savings
  • Less water used than wet blasting
  • Minimizing containment of the blast area
  • Less restrictive PPE requirements
